What do you do at Advent?

I am an AmeriCorps member placed at Advent Lutheran Church Food Ministries to support existing programs and build capacity. I am working with Pastor Haley, Pastor Danielle, the Food Pantry

Why do you do what you do?

I have been passionate about food justice since my first job as a grocery bagger in Norman, Oklahoma. I believe food is dignity, community, and care. I love to chat and love even more to listen - let’s talk about how you envision the future of service!

Talk to me about . . .

Running clubs, today’s crossword, talk to me (patiently, please!) in Greek. I am a graphic designer and would love to hear about your artistic process, or if there are any events you would like a poster for.

When not at Advent, you find me . . .

Rolling dice, thinking about elves, wandering aimlessly around Astoria, usually thinking about spanakopita.

  • Capacity building: Help organizations by recruiting and managing volunteers, developing new programs, and conducting community outreach.

  • Diverse focus: Serve in various sectors, including education, environmental conservation, poverty reduction, and support for veterans and military families.
