Morning Gratitude Meditation

Set a timer for 5 minutes. Settle in. Breathe.

  1. Give thanks for the new day, the sunrise, the weather (whatever the weather is), for baptism, for being called by name, for the opportunity to start anew

  2. Give thanks for your body, your heartbeat, your breathe, your brain (however imperfect it is), the things your body can do, for the quirks and rivets that make you you, for the sensations and perceptions that tell you you’re alive

  3. Give thanks for God’s unconditional love, for grace no matter what, for a relationship

  4. Give thanks for your family and friends, one by one, for how they support you, for how they shape you

  5. Give thanks for all the things surrounding you, the things you will use and receive today

Possible starting phrases:

“Thank you so much God, for . . .”

“I am grateful for . . .”

“God, thank you for . . .”

“God, I give you thanks for . . “

Repeat. Try to sustain for 5 minutes a day at first. Set a timer. Once you have that down, increase to 10 minutes.
